nespresso creatista review

The Nespresso Creatista Plus coffee machine offers Nespresso quality and style with a steam wand capable of producing fantastic latte art!

We have reviewed several Nespresso coffee machines before. They provide convenience and great tasting coffee at the press of a button, but they also do it with style! The Nespresso Creatista certainly does that, it comes in Black, Champagne or a stainless steel option. There is a price difference between the three, the stainless option being the most expensive but only by around £30. However, there is quite a difference in the features between the stainless steel option and the other two. We will explore what these are later in the review, but obviously, colour choice can be depicted by the design of your kitchen.

Overview of the Nespresso Creatista

One feature of the Nespresso Creatista that we feel really sets this apart from your standard Nespresso coffee machine is the steam wand. Not only does it have a steam wand which is a rarity with Nespresso machines, it has been put there for the sole purpose of creating latte art! We have reviewed other coffee machines before with steam wands, but they just don’t cut the mustard when it comes to latte art. If you fancy yourself as a bit of an artist or want to get going with latte art, this could be just the ticket!

If you opt for the black or champagne coffee machine you are looking at some pretty impressive stats when it comes to heat up time and the features on offer. The Nespresso Creatista is ready for use in 10 seconds from powering it on! It offers you 7 different coffee selections to choose from, each of which can be customised further.

If, however you decide to opt for the stainless steel option, things get really impressive! You drop the time in which the coffee machine is ready in 10 seconds to an outstanding 3 seconds! Yes, you read that right, just 3 seconds and the Nespresso Creatista is ready to start dispensing your favourite coffee! It also takes the number of milk settings up from 5 to 11 and doubles the number of froth levels from 4 to 8!

Whilst there may be some people who either don’t need these speed and feature upgrades and would prefer the colour choices of the others. For most, the stainless steel option will be the coffee machine of choice.

Features of the Nespresso Creatista

One of the things we like about Nespresso is the little sample pack you get included with each of their coffee machines. The Nespresso Creatista is no exception, you get a capsule of each of their different flavours with this machine. It’s a great way to work out which you like so that you can order more of your favourite straight away.

Nespresso also includes a metal milk jug with this machine. This is a rarity, most of the competition whilst providing a steam arm for frothing your milk, neglect to include a metal jug for your milk. Whilst this isn’t an expensive add-on, it’s something that really does help if it’s included. The Nespresso Creatista is all about the latte art and the milk jug just builds on that further.

The Nespresso Creatista offers 8 different drinks with plenty of customisation:

  • Ristretto
  • Espresso
  • Lungo
  • Cappuccino
  • Latte
  • Flat White
  • Latte Macchiato
  • Hot milk

Each one of these drinks can then be fully customised in terms of temperature, volume and if we are talking about a milk drink even the texture.

Latte Art

If you fancy yourself as a bit of an artist the Nespresso Creatista is the coffee machine for you! A fair few coffee machines on the market come with steam arms, admittedly usually more the bean to cup models that offer the more authentic barista experience. But in this case, we are talking about a fully automatic coffee machine offering a steam arm. Either way most of these machines whilst offering a steam arm to froth your milk, simply can’t get the right texture and consistency when it comes to frothing milk worthy of latte art.

The Nespresso Creatista creates the perfect milk for latte art! Learning how to produce wonderful creations like the images above, requires time and practise. But watching some of the latte art videos available on YouTube should give you some very useful pointers.

Positives and Negatives

There are many positives when it comes to this machine and very few negatives. As always there are a few and we have tried to identify them below.

Positives

  • 3/10 second heat up time
  • Choice of 8 drinks
  • Comes with milk jug

Negatives

  • Using 3rd party capsules can be a bit of a pain
  • Milk can sometimes overflow if you are using a milk drink without customisation
  • Spout drips when opening capsule compartment

Conclusion

This machine is a fantastic addition to the Nespresso range. It is a bit of a hybrid when it comes to automated coffee machines, giving you many customisation options and the steam arm, capable of latte art. Whilst it still has an auto-brew unit and is capsule driven so won’t accept fresh beans, it is still a fantastic machine.

It is a great coffee machine that looks the part and offers a whole lot of features. For the price of this unit, whilst expensive compared to other Nespresso coffee machines it is a bargain looking at its feature set.
